Bubbles, Bubbles, My Bubbles!

Well, I guess I'm the cake lady for my husband's work now!

They had their first baby shower in the office and hired me for the cakes!

I created a pinterest board of ideas for them, and off we went!

I rolled some little swirly, fondant balls:

And rolled and rolled and rolled!

Then I made little feet, with tiny toes. Pretty sure the toes took at least 30 minutes!

Then I started on the little duckies

(What I wouldn't have given for a paisley cutout!!)

Add a little baby blue frosting to the cupcakes

Buy a rubber duckie to place on top a domed cake

Add a few strategic bubbles around the cake and voila!

Duckie cake, cupcakes, and baby feet cupcakes!

If I had been thinking, I would have made duckie punch to go with it!

AAAAAH! Real Monsters!

K's 5th birthday!

Oh man, 5 years??

just craziness!

So, she wanted something pink, and something with googly eyes (Thanks Nana and Poppie!)

We went with monsters.

Here they are:

She wanted strawberry and chocolate - so I complied!

Shiny pink frosting looks great!

Adding a little purple for hair....eyebrows...beards...whatever sounded fun!

Then we added some mini m&ms for noses:

and added the googly eyes :)

fun and unique!

and then some fun mouths!

Then we started on the purple ones....

SO pretty!

looking silly!

See?

And now for their mouths...

And my personal favorite!

Red, White and Yum!

I don't remember if these cakes were made for a Memorial Day or July 4th BBQ.
I do know the first two were at my mom's house.

This was her first time seeing me make the fondant. It can get.... messy :)

She is not a messy person in the slightest. Hee hee.

The reason the fondant looks so shiny is that my water ran when I attached the stars, and I ended up painting the whole thing to keep it uniform. Some people like to buff their fondant with a little Crisco for the same effect (would have been nice to know then!)

This cake was made a year or two later, but with the same awesome Texas pan. I honestly don't remember why we made it though. Momo would know. She helped :)

Patriotic fun is always pretty... just like this cake that I will try as soon as I'm reunited with my baking equipment!
